The Southeast Seminoles's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their seventh straight loss. They took a serious blow against Sarasota, falling 66-27. Southeast was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 39-15.
Southeast's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Tyra Griggs, who scored six points.
Sarasota's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Sofi Miller, who scored 16 points along with eight rebounds and two steals. Miller is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last four games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Alyssia Bane, who scored 12 points along with eight steals.
Southeast's defeat was their fifth straight at home, which bumped their record down to 1-15. As for Sarasota, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 12-4.
Southeast won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Varsity Opponent at 6:00 p.m. on January 17th. Varsity Opponent has now lost seven straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since January 15. As for Sarasota, they will head out on the road to challenge Booker at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. That game will pit two of the most dominant guards against one another: Jakai Peterson and Paisley Binswanger.
