The Cascade Champions's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their third straight loss. The contest between Cascade and Cannon County wasn't particularly close, with Cascade falling 60-41. While losing is never fun, Cascade can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 233rd, while Cannon County is ranked 45th).
Cascade's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Sophie Ray, who scored 13 points along with six rebounds. Ray scored a full 31.7% of Cascade's points, the fourth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Kaegan Young, who scored 11 points.
Cascade has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost six of their last seven games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-11 record this season. As for Cannon County, the win (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 13-4.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Cascade will take on Community at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Community has now lost nine straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since November 28. Cannon County will be staying on the road on Saturday to face off against Central Magnet at 4:00 p.m. on January 6th.
