After only two points in their last game, the Brevard Blue Devils made sure to put some points up on the board against the Patton Panthers on Friday. Brevard managed a 70-65 victory over Patton. The win was all the more spectacular given Brevard's disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 296th, while Patton is ranked 123rd).
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Brevard to victory, but perhaps none more so than Tre Crite, who scored 24 points along with seven rebounds. Crite hasn't dropped below 17 points for three straight games. Baker Buchanan was another key contributor, scoring 28 points along with two steals.
Brevard's lineup was just a bit different on Friday as Grant Buchanan got a bit more time on the court (18 vs. his season average of 8.5). Buchanan made the most of the opportunity, scoring three points. A few more games like that and he might be seeing even more time going forward.
Brevard pushed their record up to 13-9 with that victory, which was their sixth straight at home. As for Patton, their defeat ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 19-3.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Brevard will stay at home for another game and welcome Hendersonville at 8:00 p.m. on February 13th. Hendersonville has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 348 points over their last five matches. As for Patton, they will be playing at home against Chase at 7:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Patton is facing Chase at the right time seeing as Chase is stuck on a 19-game losing streak.
