Montgomery Central is 1-9 against Clarksville since March of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Indians will head out on the road to take on the Wildcats at 5:30 p.m. Montgomery Central's pitching crew has only allowed 3.3 runs per game this season, so Clarksville's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
Montgomery Central gave up the first runs on Thursday, but they didn't let that get them down. They had just enough and edged out Stewart County 9-8. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Indians have posted since March 11, 2024.
Ella Harp was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Addison Jackson, who went 2-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Montgomery Central kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, Clarksville was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-1 heartbreaker at the hands of Rossview. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Wildcats have suffered since March 10th.
Johanna Williams spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on five hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 13 consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Clarksville saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Caroline Watts, who went 1-for-3 with one triple and one run.
Clarksville's loss dropped their record down to 12-8. As for Montgomery Central, their record is now 9-6.
Montgomery Central might still be hurting after the 7-1 defeat they got from Clarksville when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can the Indians avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
