The Bay Path RVT Minutemen are taking a road trip to take on the Bristol-Plymouth RVT Craftsmen at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Bay Path RVT is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.7 runs per game this season.
Bay Path RVT was handed a heart-breaking two-run loss in their last contest, but they sure didn't let that happen against Oxford on Monday. The Minutemen's pitcher stepped up to hand the Pirates an 8-0 shutout. The Minutemen might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four matches by eight runs or more this season.
Not much got past Jacob Jurado, who gave up just two hits and racked up six Ks to keep Oxford off the board. Jurado has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Dale Nussey and Max Lapriore did most of the damage at the plate: Nussey went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double, while Lapriore went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. Nussey has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Chase Davis, who went 2-for-3 with four RBI and one stolen base.
The scorekeeper got an easy start on Monday as neither Bristol-Plymouth RVT nor Old Colony RVT made it on the board until the fifth inning. The Craftsmen took a 6-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Cougars. The loss was the Craftsmen's first of the season.
Drew Ryder was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched.
At the plate, Bristol-Plymouth RVT saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Colby Robertson, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases. Nick Pemberton also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.
Bay Path RVT's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 7-2. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Bristol-Plymouth RVT, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 4-1.
Both Bay Path RVT and Bristol-Plymouth RVT just can't seem to miss. The Minutemen have been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 10.6 hits per game. However, it's not like Bristol-Plymouth RVT struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 5 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Bay Path RVT beat Bristol-Plymouth RVT 5-1 when the teams last played back in May of 2023. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Minutemen since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
