Volleyball Recap: Emerson Springs and Mary Psarros Secure Win for Allentown Central Catholic

If Nazareth Area wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Allentown Central Catholic, they should've done a better job of containing Briana Bauer. The Vikings were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over the Blue Eagles on Friday for which the team can thank Bauer, who had 15 digs and two aces. She has been hot, having posted two or more aces the last five times she's played.

The 3-0 score doesn't show just how dominant Allentown Central Catholic was: they took every set by at least 11 points. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-10, 25-14, 25-6.

Allentown Central Catholic was led to victory by Mary Psarros and Emerson Springs. Psarros had seven digs and two aces, while Springs hit 62.5% for 20 kills and ten digs and one block.

They weren't the only good server: Allentown Central Catholic was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 14 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least nine aces in five consecutive contests.

Allentown Central Catholic's record now sits at 8-1-1. As for Nazareth Area, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-7 record this season.

Allentown Central Catholic didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 3-1 defeat against Emmaus on the 22nd. As for Nazareth Area, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 1-1 tie against Pleasant Valley on the 20th.
