Baseball Recap: Clarion Area Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Win

Clarion Area waltzed into their game on Saturday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They put the hurt on the Keystone Panthers with a sharp 14-2 victory. That looming 14-2 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Bobcats yet this season.

Derek Smail made a big impact no matter where he played. He pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Smail was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ethan Rex, who scored two runs while going 2-for-5. Those two hits gave him a new career-high.

Clarion Area always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .537. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Keystone only posted an OBP of .385.

Clarion Area's win bumped their record up to 4-1. As for Keystone, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-3.
