Softball Recap: Gregory-Portland Wins Going Away Against Ray

Gregory-Portland won the last time they faced Ray and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Gregory-Portland Wildcats were the clear victor by a 15-1 margin over the Ray Texans. The Wildcats might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine matchups by seven runs or more this season.

Audrey Diercks was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits (and not a single walk). That's the fewest hits she has allowed since back in February. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most runs she has posted over her last 13 games.

In other batting news, Gregory-Portland got a massive performance out of Madison Mauricio, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. That's the most RBI Mauricio has posted since back in March of 2024. Emily Cameron was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple.

Gregory-Portland was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .531. They are a perfect 8-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Gregory-Portland is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-6 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. Ray has been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-12 record this season.

Gregory-Portland didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 15-1 win against Alice on the 13th. As for Ray, they have also already played their next contest, an 8-2 victory against King on the 13th.
