The Streator Bulldogs's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their fifth straight loss. They lost to Peotone at home by a decisive 40-23 margin. While losing is never fun, Streator can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 671st, while Peotone is ranked 149th).
Ava Gwaltney was Streator's leading scorer, having posted 12 points.
Jade Williams held things down on the boards with nine rebounds. She took the lead distributing the ball, coming up with two assists.
Streator's loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 1-24. As for Peotone, the win (which was their ninth in a row) raised their record to 17-4.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Streator the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Manteno at 6:45 p.m. on January 29th. Peotone will take on Reed-Custer at 6:45 p.m. on Monday. Hopefully Reed-Custer focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 17 on Thursday.
