The Ben Lomond Scots pushed their score all the way to 67 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 68-67 to American Prep WV. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their last game last Wednesday (66), Ben Lomond still had to take the loss.
Despite the loss, Ben Lomond still got an impressive performance from Jonathan Alcarez, who scored 24 points along with six rebounds and three blocks. Alcarez continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Malakai Mack, who scored 14 points along with five rebounds.
Even though they lost, Ben Lomond were working as a unit and finished the game with 17 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as American Prep WV only racked up six assists.
Komy Ocwor continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for American Prep WV, scoring 35 points along with six rebounds and four steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Ocwor has scored all season. Moses Duon was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 11 points and 13 rebounds.
Ben Lomond has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-8 record this season. As for American Prep WV, they pushed their record up to 8-5 with that win, which was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Ben Lomond will take on South Summit at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. South Summit is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt want to keep things rolling. As for American Prep WV, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Merit Preparatory Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Merit Preparatory Academy is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak.
