After three games on the road, Buckeye Central is heading back home. They will take on the Cardington-Lincoln Pirates at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Buckeye Central has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games.
Last Monday, Buckeye Central's game was all tied up 21-21 at the half, but luckily for them it didn't stay that way. They walked away with a 52-45 victory over Colonel Crawford. The victory was all the more spectacular given Buckeye Central's disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 474th, while Colonel Crawford is ranked 162nd).
Meanwhile, things could have been worse for Cardington-Lincoln, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 54-38 loss to Clear Fork on Tuesday. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Cardington-Lincoln in their matchups with Clear Fork: they've now lost three in a row.
Despite their loss, Cardington-Lincoln saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Abigail Hardwick, who scored nine points, was perhaps the best of all. Madison Caulkins was another key contributor, scoring seven points.
Buckeye Central's victory bumped their record up to 6-12. As for Cardington-Lincoln, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 12-9 record this season.
Buckeye Central came up short against Cardington-Lincoln when the teams last played back in February of 2020, falling 52-40. Thankfully for Buckeye Central, Casey Bertke (who scored 18 points along with eight rebounds and three steals) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
