It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but the Newton County Academy Generals had no problem doing just that on Friday. They snuck past Christian Collegiate Academy with a 62-56 win. The win was nothing new for Newton County Academy as they're now sitting on six straight.
Hunter Scarbrough was his usual excellent self, rushing for 291 yards and six touchdowns while picking up 8.8 yards per carry, and also picking up 79 receiving yards. Scarbrough hasn't dropped below two rushing touchdowns for eight straight games. Ty Thrash was another key contributor, throwing for 129 yards and three touchdowns on only eight passes.
Newton County Academy's win bumped their record up to 12-1. As for Christian Collegiate Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 7-4.
Newton County Academy is on the road again on Friday and play against DeSoto. DeSoto will be coming into the contest with an undefeated record on the line. Christian Collegiate Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
