After both having extra time off, the South Walton Seahawks and the Paxton Bobcats will shake off the cobwebs and hit the field against one another at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. South Walton is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.7 runs per game this season.
South Walton lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Walton, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Tuesday's game. South Walton put the hurt on Walton with a sharp 11-4 win last Tuesday.
McKenzie Reiter spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned runs on eight hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Zoey Kreinus was incredible, firing off two home runs, three runs, and four RBI while going 3-for-4. Another player making a difference was Tatum Kreinus, who scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-5.
South Walton was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .394. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Walton only posted a batting average of .250.
Meanwhile, Paxton beat Cottondale 7-4 last Tuesday.
Paxton also let their pitcher toss all seven innings and she was also dialed-in: Ryleigh Miller gave up just two earned (and two unearned) runs on nine hits and racked up seven Ks.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Taylor Phillips, who scored two runs while going 3-for-3. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in doubles (two). Dani Thompson also deserves some recognition as she got her first hit of the season.
Paxton pushed their record up to 4-2 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games. As for South Walton, their record now sits at 4-5.
South Walton took their victory against Paxton in their previous matchup back in March of 2024 by a conclusive 10-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for South Walton since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
