Two dominant guards in Sim Wenger and Hunter Howard are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Glenwood Springs Demons will head out on the road to take on the Palisade Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Glenwood Springs has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
Even though Durango scored an imposing 58 points on Saturday, Glenwood Springs still came out on top. Glenwood Springs was the clear victor by a 79-58 margin over the Demons.
It was another big night for Wenger, who scored 27 points along with five assists and five steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. Argeny Renteria was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with five rebounds and five steals.
Meanwhile, Palisade was able to grind out a solid victory over the Demons on Friday, taking the game 55-43. The win made it back-to-back wins for Palisade.
Palisade's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Howard led the charge by dropping a double-double on 19 points and ten rebounds. Another player making a difference was Fred Moore, who scored 12 points along with six rebounds.
Glenwood Springs is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 9-10 record this season. As for Palisade, their win ended a five-game drought at home and bumped them up to 8-11.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Glenwood Springs have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 28.1 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Palisade struggles in that department as they've been averaging 25.4 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Glenwood Springs beat the Bulldogs 62-51 in their previous matchup back in January. The rematch might be a little tougher for Glenwood Springs since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
