The Channelview Falcons's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their eighth straight loss. They took a 48-41 hit to the loss column at the hands of Sam Rayburn. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Channelview of the 43-29 defeat they experienced in the two teams' previous head-to-head fixture back in December of 2023.
Sam Rayburn found their leader in underclassman Kimari Mikell, who dropped a double-double on 24 points and 13 rebounds. Mikell hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for three straight games. BreAnn Figgs was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on ten points and 14 rebounds.
Channelview bumped their record down to 2-14 with that defeat, which was their fifth straight at home. As for Sam Rayburn, their win bumped their record up to 7-14.
Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing South Houston the next time they take the court. Channelview will head out to face South Houston at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, while Sam Rayburn will host them at 1:00 p.m. on Friday.
