Johnson (Huntsville, Ala.) received a huge boost from its defense against Haleyville (Ala.), as the unit scored 12 in defeating Haleyville (Ala.), 60-14.
After taking the lead on a touchdown run in the first quarter, the Jaguars were up 28-0 at the half.
Johnson expanded its lead to 30 points entering the fourth quarter. JHS scored four times in the third, including once on a passing touchdown.
Even though the Huntsville school led by 30 points at the start of the fourth quarter, it didn't let up, scoring 16 in the quarter.
The Jaguars went into the matchup giving up only 7.7 points per game. The 14 points that the Lions ended with were well below their average of 24.3 coming into the game.
A 41-0 Johnson victory was the result when the squads faced off last season.
The loss comes after Haleyville defeated Fairview 37-6 last week.
