This season hasn't been kind to the Liberty Leopards, who are still winless after their ninth contest. They were dealt a 53-21 defeat at the hands of Champion on Thursday. While losing is never fun, Liberty can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 772nd, while Champion is ranked 265th).
Isabella Meyer was her usual excellent self, scoring 16 points along with six steals and five rebounds for Champion. That makes it 13 consecutive games in which Meyer has scored at least 25% of Champion's points. Another player making a difference was Kennedy Caldwell, who scored 16 points.
Liberty bumped their record down to 0-9 with that loss, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season. As for Champion, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 9-4.
Liberty will head out on the road to face off against Memorial at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Champion, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Newton Falls at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
