Whitefield Academy put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They blew past the Bryan Station Defenders, posting a 64-22 win. Given the Wildcats' advantage in MaxPreps' Kentucky basketball rankings (they are ranked 27th, while the Defenders are ranked 112th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Whitefield Academy had a senior duo take command as Noel Smith went 9 of 15 on her way to 23 points in addition to seven assists and seven boards and Gwynnie Franz went 8 for 11 from beyond the arc on her way to 26 points and four steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which Franz has scored at least a third of Whitefield Academy's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Mia Braffet, who posted six points.

Whitefield Academy's victory bumped their record up to 8-0. As for Bryan Station, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-4.

Whitefield Academy wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 67-38 defeat against Frederick Douglass on the 21st. As for Bryan Station, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 57-24 loss against Boyle County on the 21st.
