The Winchester Community Golden Falcons will square off against the Shenandoah Raiders at 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Winchester Community is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.2 runs per game this season.
Winchester Community's usually-dominant pitching crew will be looking to make up for Saturday's struggle, when Delta hitters got past them. The Golden Falcons took an 11-7 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Eagles on Saturday. The loss continues a trend for the Golden Falcons in their meetings with the Eagles: they've now lost six in a row.
Winchester Community saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Landen Porfidio, who went 2-for-5 with one run and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Shenandoah had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Saturday. They put the hurt on the Warriors with a sharp 14-4 victory. The result was nothing new for the Raiders, who have now won 13 contests by six runs or more so far this season.
Drew Fredenburg made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He struck out six batters over five innings while giving up four earned runs off four hits. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April. He was even better at the plate, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.
In other batting news, Collin Osenbaugh was incredible, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Aiden Coffey, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Shenandoah always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .590. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .500 or higher in six consecutive matches.
Shenandoah's win was their 15th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 18-4. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Winchester Community, their defeat dropped their record down to 18-5.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Wednesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Winchester Community has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.7 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Shenandoah struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.8 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
