Florala is 8-2 against the Tigers since February of 2019, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Florala Wildcats will be staying on the road to face off against the Elba Tigers at 5:30 p.m. on February 6th. Hopefully Florala focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 17 on Thursday.
While Florala couldn't quite beat the Bulldogs on Thursday, the three-point margin was a huge improvement compared to the 21-point defeat they were dealt on Tuesday. Florala fell just short of the Bulldogs by a score of 57-54. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss Florala has suffered since November 17, 2023.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Rayshon Coleman, who scored 17 points along with six assists and five rebounds. He is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last six games he's played. Christian Greasham was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 13 points and 14 rebounds.
Meanwhile, Elba entered their tilt with the Rebels with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Elba managed a 79-73 win over the Rebels on Thursday. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Florala dropped their record down to 17-9 with that defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road. As for Elba, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 16-9 record this season.
Florala lost to the Tigers on the road by a decisive 69-52 margin when the teams last played back in January. Can Florala avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
