The Fruitdale Pirates's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their third straight loss. They fell 47-36 to Leroy. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Fruitdale in their matchups with Leroy: they've now lost eight in a row.
Fruitdale lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Genna Ivy, who scored 17 points. Ivy scored a full 47.2% of Fruitdale's points, the eighth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Makayia Crager, who scored ten points along with eight rebounds.
Fruitdale has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost five of their last six games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-8 record this season. As for Leroy, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-4.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Fruitdale is on the road again on Friday and play against Southern Choctaw at 5:00 p.m. on January 5th. Leroy won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Jackson at 6:00 p.m. on January 5th. Hopefully Jackson focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 22 last Saturday.
