The Burkburnett Bulldogs had to endure a three-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They strolled past Wichita Falls with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 44-28. The victory was just what Burkburnett needed coming off of a 51-21 defeat in their prior game.
Kyler Kirkland continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 155 yards and four touchdowns. Elijah Maldonado was in the mix as well, providing Burkburnett with two touchdowns.
Wichita Falls' loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performance. Perhaps the best among them was Cameron Jones, who rushed for 44 yards and two touchdowns, and also picked up 74 receiving yards. Another player making a difference was Zage Gravitt, who threw for 211 yards and two touchdowns.
Even if they lost, Wichita Falls' defensive line still kept up the pressure with three sacks. Leading the way was Jose Hinojosa and his two sacks.
Burkburnett's win bumped their record up to 3-5. As for Wichita Falls, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-7.
Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Springtown the next time they take the field. Burkburnett will host Springtown at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, while Wichita Falls will head out to face them at 7:00 p.m. on November 3rd.
