Softball Recap: Walker Valley Snags Third Win in Last Four Games

Walker Valley won the last time they faced Hixson and things went their way on Wednesday too. The Mustangs never let the Wildcats get on the board and left with a 9-0 win. The Mustangs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 19 games by seven runs or more this season.

Walker Valley got a great performance from Haley Davis as she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over five innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts Davis has posted since back in March.

At the plate, Abigail Lipps was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Brylie Davis, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Walker Valley has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That somehow still isn't as good as their 27-7-1 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.3 runs over those games. As for Hixson, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-15-1 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Walker Valley will welcome Chattanooga Christian at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Hixson, they will take on Brainerd at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Panthers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 16.5 runs per game on average), something the Wildcats will no doubt try to take advantage of.
