Escondido has enjoyed a three-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will take on the Fallbrook Warriors at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.
Escondido won a close one the last time they played, but unfortunately they suffered a serious change of fortune on Tuesday. They were dealt a 83-31 defeat at the hands of Westview. While losing is never fun, Escondido can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 908th, while Westview is ranked 450th).
Meanwhile, Fallbrook came up short against Mt. Carmel on Wednesday and fell 53-43. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Fallbrook in their matchups with Mt. Carmel: they've now lost eight in a row.
The losing side was boosted by Samuel Carmona, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and nine rebounds. Another player making a difference was Malaki Brotherton, who scored 12 points along with two steals.
Escondido has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-16 record this season. As for Fallbrook, their loss dropped their record down to 12-14.
Escondido didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Fallbrook in their previous matchup back in January, but they still walked away with a 63-58 victory. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Fallbrook's Evan Thomas, who scored 21 points along with five rebounds and two steals.
