The Hutto Hippos lost against the O'Connor Panthers back in December of 2021, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Hutto fell 49-41 to O'Connor. While losing is never fun, Hutto can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 364th, while O'Connor is ranked 153rd).
Julian Barron continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for O'Connor, scoring 12 points along with 3 steals. The contest was Barron's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Luke Bledsoe was another key contributor, scoring 10 points along with 5 rebounds.
Hutto has been struggling recently, as they've lost six of their last eight matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-9 record this season. As for O'Connor, their win bumped their record up to 12-6.
Hutto will be home for the holidays to greet Harker Heights at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. O'Connor will be staying on the road on Saturday to face off against West Brook at 9:00 a.m. on December 9th. One thing working in West Brook's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last three games.
