Maggie Walker was the clear victor by a 15-5 margin over James Monroe. The result was nothing new for Maggie Walker, who have now won five matchups by eight runs or more so far this season.
Carson Holbert made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over four innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits (and only one walk). That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April of 2024. He was also big at the plate, going 3-for-5 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
In other batting news, Quinn Redwine was a standout: he got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. Donovan Johnson was another key player, going 3-for-5 with three runs, three RBI, and two doubles.
Maggie Walker always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .545. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as James Monroe only posted an OBP of .355.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask J.R. Tucker). They were the clear victors by an 11-1 margin over Hermitage on Friday. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Tigers with their most commanding win of the season.
Caleb Wood spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on four hits and racked up six Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Joey Noel was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Gabriel Garcia also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.
Maggie Walker pushed their record up to 8-4 with the win, which was their seventh straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.6 runs over those games. As for J.R. Tucker, their win was their first in the region, bumping their region record up to 1-4 and their overall record up to 3-9.
J.R. Tucker's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Maggie Walker hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .351. It's a different story for J.R. Tucker, though, as they've only averaged .222. Will they be able to contain Maggie Walker's hitters?
