Seacrest Country Day has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will face off against the Neumann Celtics at TBD on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Florida (Seacrest Country Day is ranked 73rd, while the Celtics are ranked 48th).
With a playoff game on the line, Seacrest Country Day rose to the challenge on Monday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Shamrocks 55-23 at home. Seacrest Country Day has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won ten games by 32 points or more this season.
It was another big night for Madison D'Elia, who scored 17 points. Another player making a difference was Dragana ?cepanovic, who scored 11 points.
Meanwhile, Neumann had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 33.5 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. They strolled past Bishop Verot with points to spare, taking the game 49-32.
Neumann relied on the efforts of Mylee Van de wouw, who scored 14 points along with four steals and three blocks, and Sophia McCartney, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 15 rebounds. McCartney has been hot recently, having posted nine or more rebounds the last seven times she's played. Ava Martin was another key contributor, scoring five points.
Seacrest Country Day's victory was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 21-4. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.5 points per game. Neumann's record now sits at 21-3.
Friday's game is shaping up to be a masterclass in shooting: Seacrest Country Day have been dynamite from deep this season, having made 83.3% of their threes per game. However, it's not like Neumann struggles in that department as they've made 39.8% of their threes this season. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Seacrest Country Day couldn't quite finish off the Celtics when the teams last played back in November of 2023 and fell 52-50. Can Seacrest Country Day avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
