Pueblo County is 10-0 against Pueblo Centennial since January of 2019, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Pueblo County Hornets will be playing in front of their home fans against the Pueblo Centennial Bulldogs at 7:30 p.m. Hopefully Pueblo County focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up eight on Tuesday.
After a string of four wins, Pueblo County's good fortune finally ran out. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 43-42 to The Classical Academy.
Dominic Mauro put forth a good effort for the losing side as he dropped a double-double on 11 points and 11 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Lowry Kirkland, who scored 14 points.
Meanwhile, Pueblo Centennial didn't have too much trouble with Lincoln at home on Friday as they won 49-34. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Pueblo Centennial.
Pueblo Centennial got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Shon West out in front who scored ten points along with six rebounds and two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Jackson Jacob, who scored six points along with three steals.
Pueblo County's defeat dropped their record down to 8-3. As for Pueblo Centennial, they now have a winning record of 6-5.
Keep an eye on the arc in Tuesday's contest: Pueblo County have made nailing deep shots look easy this year this season, having only averaged 4.5 threes per game. It's a different story for Pueblo Centennial, though, as they've been averaging only 3.8 threes per game. Given Pueblo County's sizeable advantage in that area, Pueblo Centennial will need to find a way to close that gap.
Pueblo County strolled past Pueblo Centennial in their previous matchup back in February of 2023 by a score of 53-38. Will Pueblo County repeat their success, or does Pueblo Centennial have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
