The Newington Nor'easters will challenge the Southington Blue Knights at 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams are strolling into their games after big wins in their previous games.
Newington had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 11-run drubbing they dealt Middletown on Tuesday. The Nor'easters never let the Blue Dragons get on the board and left with an 11-0 win. That 11 run margin sets a new team best for the Nor'easters this season.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Southington, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Monday. They put the hurt on Immaculate with a sharp 13-4 victory on Tuesday. Considering the Blue Knights have won five contests by more than six runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Logan Rembish made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out six batters over five innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and one run.
In other batting news, Colin LaRosa was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Shane Richters was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.
Southington was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Immaculate only posted a batting average of .190.
Southington pushed their record up to 10-4 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.3 runs over those games. As for Newington, the win got them back to even at 5-5-1.
Newington came up short against Southington in their previous meeting back in April, falling 4-1. Will the Nor'easters have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
