The Central Academy Cougars are headed away from home for the first time to face off against the Union Academy Cardinals at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams are strolling into their games after big wins in their previous games.
Central Academy is headed out to face Union Academy after opening their season at home and giving their fans just what they were looking for. Central Academy blew past Mountain Island Charter 13-3 on Monday.
Addison Crawford and Allison Proffitt made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Crawford pitched three innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits. Meanwhile, Proffitt pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. At the plate, Crawford scored two runs while going 2-for-3, while Proffitt scored two runs while going 1-for-2.

In other batting news, Central Academy got a massive performance out of Marissa Easterly, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Those four RBI gave Easterly a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Katelyn Easterly, who went 3-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles.
Central Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .586. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Mountain Island Charter only posted an OBP of .238.
Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Union Academy faced off against Anson on Wednesday. Union Academy put the hurt on Anson with a sharp 18-2 victory. The Cardinals haven't had any issues with the Bearcats recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.
Avery Wilson was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out nine over four innings pitched. Wilson was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two triples, three runs, and two RBI.
In other batting news, Taylor Surratt was a standout: she got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. Avery Chaney was another key player, going 2-for-4 with five RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.
Central Academy might still be hurting after the 14-1 defeat they got from Union Academy in their previous meeting back in April of 2023. Can Central Academy avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
