It was another big night for Brady Driver, who rushed for 163 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 7.1 yards per carry, and also threw for 59 yards and a touchdown.
Another reason for the win was Sulphur Springs' imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for four sacks. Leading the way was Truth Holmes and his two sacks.
Meanwhile, everything came up roses for Kaufman on the road against Mabank on Friday as the squad secured a 47-6 victory. The victory was just what Kaufman needed coming off of a 48-20 loss in their prior match.
Kaufman relied on the efforts of Kylevon Morrow, who rushed for 132 yards and a touchdown while picking up 7.8 yards per carry, and Elijah Rose, who rushed for 70 yards and three touchdowns on only nine carries. Aljour Miles ii did his part to keep the secondary busy, picking up 81 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Their wins bumped Sulphur Springs to 7-1 and Kaufman to 2-6.
Sulphur Springs suffered a grim 28-7 defeat to Kaufman when the teams last played back in October of 2022. Will Sulphur Springs have more luck at home instead of on the road?
