Basketball Recap: Cesar Chavez Now 6-1 over Last Seven Games

If Maryvale wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Cesar Chavez, they should've done a better job of containing Malia Woodberry. The Cesar Chavez Champions claimed a resounding 99-7 victory over the Maryvale Panthers thanks in part to Woodberry, who dropped a triple-double on 15 points, 12 assists, and 15 steals. Those 12 assists gave her a new career-high.

Another player making a difference was Alex Ballard, who went 9 for 15 on her way to 18 points in addition to five assists and five steals. The contest was her third in a row with at least ten points.

Cesar Chavez is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 12-6 record this season. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 47 points. As for Maryvale, their defeat was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-13.

Cesar Chavez will square off against Dobson at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Cesar Chavez is facing Dobson at the right time seeing as Dobson is stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for Maryvale, they will challenge Kofa at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Kofa will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something Maryvale surely won't give up without a fight.
