Basketball Recap: Hubbard's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

Hubbard can bid farewell to their six-game losing streak thanks to their game on Friday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the McKinley Red Dragons, sneaking past 59-57. This was a revenge game for the Eagles: when they faced off against the Red Dragons back in December of 2024, they had to take a 69-60 loss.

Leading Hubbard to victory were Kenyen Franklin and Jakob Hayes. Franklin went 11 for 18 en route to 27 points, while Hayes posted 18 points and seven boards. Those 27 points gave Franklin a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kyle Barr, who put up seven points.

Despite the loss, McKinley still got an impressive performance from True Carey-Hardin, who went 10 of 18 on his way to 28 points and three blocks. Avon Fryer was another key player, putting up ten points in addition to seven rebounds and three steals.

Hubbard's victory was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-6 and their overall record up to 3-11. As for McKinley, they now have a losing record at 6-7.

Hubbard didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 59-28 win against Maplewood on the 25th. McKinley has also already played their next match, an 87-51 defeat against Boardman on the 25th.
