The W.S. Neal Eagles will take on the Prattville Christian Academy Panthers in a tournament on Saturday. The two teams are strolling into their matchups after big wins in their previous games.
Having struggled with five defeats in a row, W.S. Neal turned things around against Escambia County on Thursday. They never let the Blue Devils get on the board and left with a 16-0 victory. That looming 16-0 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Eagles yet this season.
Paris Howard looked comfortable as she pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, she posted four strikeouts, the most she's had since back in March.
On the hitting side, Addison Bedsole was excellent, scoring a run while going 1-for-2. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in RBI (two). Another player making a difference was Ajada Thompson, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in two of her three plate appearances.
W.S. Neal always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .708. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Prattville Christian Academy). Everything went their way against LAMP on Thursday as they made off with a 19-6 win. Considering the Panthers have won 15 contests by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Colbie Martin looked comfortable as she tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Chloe Hollon, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. She is on a roll when it comes to RBI, as she's now brought in three or more in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Sara Payton Schmidt, who scored three runs while going 2-for-4.
The victory (which was Prattville Christian Academy's sixth in a row) raised their record to 26-5. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.5 runs over those games. As for W.S. Neal, their victory was their first in the region, bumping their region record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 10-12.
W.S. Neal couldn't quite get it done against Prattville Christian Academy when the teams last played back in February of 2022 as they fell 5-0.
