Green Canyon has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will square off against The Salem Hills Skyhawks at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the pair will really light up the scoreboard.
On October 11th, Green Canyon never let their opponents score. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Varsity Opponent 35-0 at home. The contest was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point Green Canyon had established a 28 point advantage.
Salem Hills had a rough season last year, but they look ready to turn that poor record around this year. They breezed by Uintah at home to the tune of 44-7. With Salem Hills ahead 30-7 at the half, the contest was all but over already.
Salem Hills can attribute much of their success to Jedi Nelson, who threw for 120 yards and four touchdowns, and Roper Kay, who rushed for 253 yards and a touchdown while picking up 12.7 yards per carry. Kay's longest rush was for an incredible 77 yards. Another player making a difference was Kort Stewart, who picked up 50 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Their wins bumped Green Canyon to 7-3 and Salem Hills to 8-3.
