The South Lake Eagles''s recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They had to suffer through a rough 35-7 loss at the hands of East Ridge. South Lake lost against East Ridge in their previous head to head back in October of 2022, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 26-20 score last time.
Marcell Walker and Kevens Charles certainly did their best on Friday to try and avoid the loss. Walker gained 148 total yards, while Charles rushed for 102 yards and a touchdown. Walker was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 68 yards.
Among those leading the charge was Cole Rylski, who rushed for 43 yards and two touchdowns, and also threw for 193 yards and two touchdowns on only 17 passes. The team also got some help courtesy of Travarus Boykin, who gained 93 total yards and a touchdown.
South Lake's loss was their tenth straight at home (dating back to last season), which bumped their record down to 2-8. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 10-2 Lake Minneola and 7-3 St. Cloud (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 56.8% over those games). As for East Ridge, their win bumped their record up to 5-5.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. South Lake will take on Olympia at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Olympia has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 113 points over their last three contests. As for East Ridge, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Tavares at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
