The Regis Groff Fusion came into Friday's matchup having lost five straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They snuck past Lincoln with a 66-61 win on Friday. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Mahmoud Ibrahim was his usual excellent self, scoring 22 points along with five steals. Jamal Bailly was another key contributor, almost dropping a double-double on 13 points and nine rebounds.
Despite the loss, Lincoln still got an impressive performance from Mahamud Jumale, who scored 24 points along with five rebounds and four steals. That was a full 39.3% of Lincoln's points, marking the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Nathaniel White, who scored 11 points.
Regis Groff's victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 4-10. As for Lincoln, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-8 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Regis Groff is on the road again on Monday and plays the Miners at 7:00 p.m. on January 29th. Hopefully Prospect Ridge Academy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 12 last Wednesday. As for Lincoln, they will head out on the road to face off against the Bison at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Vista PEAK Prep will be looking to keep their six-game home win streak alive.
