Douglas is 2-8 against Whitinsville Christian since January of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Douglas Tigers on the road again and play against the Whitinsville Christian Crusaders at 6:30 p.m. on January 23rd. Douglas has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
Even though Douglas has not done well against Nipmuc Regional recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. Douglas came out on top against Nipmuc Regional by a score of 62-51.
Douglas got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Owen Gray out in front who scored 18 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Gray has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Colton Howard, who scored 16 points.
Meanwhile, Whitinsville Christian's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fifth straight loss. The game between Whitinsville Christian and Blackstone-Millville wasn't particularly close, with Whitinsville Christian falling 50-34.
Caleb Deters put forth a good effort for the losing side as he scored 17 points. That was a full 50% of Whitinsville Christian's points, marking the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Isaiah Plantinga, who scored eight points.
Douglas' win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 7-4. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.8 points per game. As for Whitinsville Christian, they now have a losing record at 4-5.
Douglas strolled past Whitinsville Christian when the teams last played on January 5th by a score of 51-37. The rematch might be a little tougher for Douglas since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
