The Orange Lions will venture away from home to challenge the Ravenna Ravens at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
On Saturday, Orange made easy work of McKinley and carried off a 19-1 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Lions.
Clare Hess made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed four innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Hess was even better at the plate, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. She also hit a double, marking her first of the season.

Meanwhile, Ravenna hadn't done well against Cloverleaf recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. The Ravens were the clear victors by a 15-4 margin over the Colts. The Ravens might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six games by six runs or more this season.
Whitney Holmes made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out ten batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off five hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with two runs.
In other batting news, Shyanna Dillbeck was a standout: she went 3-for-5 with four runs and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Jocelynn Smallwood, who went 3-for-5 with four runs and one stolen base.
Orange's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-7. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.3 runs over those games. As for Ravenna, their record now sits at 9-11.
Orange's speedy runners might be the difference in Tuesday's matchup. The Lions have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.3 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Ravenna, though, as they've been averaging only 1 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Orange continue to outrun the ball?
