The Economedes Jaguars's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their eighth straight loss. They received a tough blow as they fell 72-54 to La Joya. Economedes has not had much luck with the Coyotes recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Despite the loss, Economedes still got an impressive performance from Nathaniel De La Garza, who scored 23 points along with three steals. De La Garza continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Alexandro Zurita, who scored six points along with six rebounds.
It was another big night for Daniel Trevino, who scored 19 points along with seven assists and five rebounds for La Joya. Trevino has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Owen Benoit, who scored 14 points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Economedes has not been sharp recently as the team's lost nine of their last 11 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 12-18 record this season. As for La Joya, they pushed their record up to 21-14 with that win, which was their fifth straight at home.
Economedes will take on the Cougars at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Edinburg North will be looking to extend their current eight-game winning streak. As for La Joya, they will head out on the road to challenge the Eagles at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Mission will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings (they are ranked 1105th, while the Coyotes are ranked 545th).
