The Rifle Bears came into Friday's matchup having lost six straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They took down Basalt 39-22 on Friday. The victory was just what Rifle needed coming off of a 57-18 defeat in their prior contest.
Among those leading the charge was Blayke Hostettler, who scored 13 points along with eight rebounds. Brylee Alcantar was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with five steals.
Rifle's victory ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 5-15. As for Basalt, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-17.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Rifle will take on Coal Ridge at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Rifle focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 23 on Friday. As for Basalt, they won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Summit at 11:30 a.m. on February 3rd. Basalt will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Colorado Rankings (they are ranked 308th, while Summit is ranked 142nd).
