Back at the plate, Aiden Orth was incredible, going 5-for-6 with a home run, seven RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Josh Hogle, who scored a run while going 1-for-5.
Meanwhile, Westview came into Saturday's game having lost five straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They skirted past Mishawaka 8-7.
Like Garrett, Westview also got a great game from a two-way player: Gavin Engle. He pitched 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off four hits (he also didn't allow any walks). Engle was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with a stolen base and two RBI.
In other batting news, Mason Wire was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Braden Kauffman was another key contributor, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-3.
The victory got Garrett back to even at 1-1. As for Westview, their win bumped their record up to 2-5.
