Jasmine Wildman spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four runs (all of which were unearned) on three hits. That's the fewest hits she has allowed since back in March of 2024.
At the plate, Alex Jokisch was incredible, scoring two runs while going 3-for-3. Aylah Logan was another key player, scoring a run while going 3-for-4.
Meanwhile, Hillsboro never let their opponents score on Saturday. They were the clear victors by a 13-0 margin over Wesclin.
Lainey Lessman made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over five innings pitched. Lessman was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Anika Camp, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Ella Greenwood also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen bases of the season.
Hillsboro always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .552. The last time their OBP was this high was back in March of 2024.
The win got Hillsboro back to even at 2-2. As for Shelbyville, the victory got them back to even at 1-1.
Shelbyville suffered a grim 18-11 defeat to Hillsboro in their previous meeting back in March of 2024. Can Shelbyville avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
