The Carrboro Jaguars lost against the Vance County Vipers back in September of 2022, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Carrboro had to suffer through a rough 49-14 loss at the hands of Vance County. Carrboro was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 42-7.
Despite the loss, Carrboro still got an impressive performance from Marcus Sharpe jr, who picked up 54 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Vance County to victory, but perhaps none more so than Javion Vines-holder, who threw for 275 yards and three touchdowns while completing 73.3% of his passes. Another player making a difference was Zahbir Goggins, who rushed for 117 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 7.3 yards per carry.
Carrboro has been struggling recently, as they've lost five of their last six matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-6 record this season. As for Vance County, the victory for they keeps them at an undefeated 9-0.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Carrboro will take on Southern Durham at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Southern Durham knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past four games -- so hopefully Carrboro likes a good challenge. As for Vance County, they will head out on the road to face off against J.F. Webb at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. J.F. Webb is on a four-game streak of home wins, Vance County a four-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the field.
