After losing to the Creekside Seminoles the last time they met, the Calhoun City Wildcats decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. Calhoun City enjoyed a cozy 68-50 victory over Creekside on Saturday. Given Calhoun City's advantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 68th in Mississippi, while Creekside is ranked 412th in Georgia), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
When it comes to explaining why Creekside lost, one person who can't be blamed is Tim Gaulden. Despite the final result, he scored 16 points along with six rebounds. The matchup was Gaulden's sixth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Amadou Onyia, who scored 14 points.
Calhoun City's victory bumped their record up to 9-2. As for Creekside, their loss dropped their record down to 1-5.
Calhoun City and Oxford will face off at 7:30 p.m. on December 19th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. One thing working in Oxford's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last five matches. Creekside's road trip will continue as they head out to face Archer at 3:30 p.m. on December 21st.
