Baseball Recap: Bishop Ward Wins Going Away Against Maranatha Christian Academy

Bishop Ward never let their opponents score on Monday. They blew past the Maranatha Christian Academy Eagles 13-0. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 15-0 back in March.

Rolando Calderon made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Calderon was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and two RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Bishop Ward let Manny Dunn and Keylan Overton run wild. Dunn got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three stolen bases and three runs, while Overton went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most runs Overton has posted since back in March. Brayan Landetta was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and one stolen base.

Bishop Ward hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Maranatha Christian Academy struck out seven times.

The win made it two in a row for Bishop Ward and bumps their season record up to 10-8. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.5 runs over those games. As for Maranatha Christian Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-7-1.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Bishop Ward will face off against St. Pius X at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Maranatha Christian Academy, they will challenge Northland Christian at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
