Brillion hasn't had much luck against Kewaunee recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Lions will look to defend their home field against the Storm at 4:30 p.m. Brillion is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.2 runs per game this season.
If Brillion beats Kewaunee with five runs on Tuesday, it's going to be the squad's new lucky number: they've won their past two games with that exact score. The Lions won by a run and slipped past Luxemburg-Casco 5-4. Winning may never get old, but the Lions sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.
Jocelyn Tamm spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned runs on six hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Amaya Brooks, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Meanwhile, Kewaunee fought the good fight in their extra-innings matchup against Crivitz on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Wolverines by a score of 6-5.
Kambriea Last was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Vivian Bootz, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs.
Brillion's win bumped their record up to 19-5. As for Kewaunee, their loss dropped their record down to 16-10.
Tuesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Brillion hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .349. However, it's not like Kewaunee struggles in that department as they've averaged .380. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
