East Fairmont hasn't had much luck against Lewis County recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Bees will welcome the Minutemen at 5:00 p.m. After the two teams made easy work of their previous opponents, one won't be so lucky on Tuesday.
East Fairmont is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They were the clear victors by a 22-10 margin over Liberty on Saturday. The win was some much needed relief for the Bees as it spelled an end to their six-game losing streak.
Gracie Snyder was a standout: she went 3-for-5 with five RBI, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Kassidy Edens, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
East Fairmont always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .706. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Lewis County had already won seven in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7.1 runs) and they went ahead and made it eight on Monday. They put the hurt on the Mountaineers with a sharp 13-5 victory. Considering the Minutemen have won eight games by more than seven runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
Ashley Crook made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out nine over four innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run and three RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Payten Goodwin, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two doubles. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high. Addisyn Posey was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three RBI and one run.
Lewis County's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 14-4. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.3 runs over those games. As for East Fairmont, their win bumped their record up to 4-13.
Tuesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. East Fairmont hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .327. However, it's not like Lewis County struggles in that department as they've averaged .345. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
East Fairmont might still be hurting after the 12-4 loss they got from Lewis County when the teams last played last Friday. Will the Bees have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other softball content.
