Millbrook is preparing for their first conference matchup of the season on Tuesday. They will host the Heritage Huskies at 7:00 p.m. Millbrook is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.5 runs per game this season.
Millbrook is probably headed into the match with a chip on their shoulder considering Leesville Road just ended the team's seven-game winning streak on Friday. They lost 13-5 to the Pride. Surprisingly, this marked the sixth straight game that the away team has come away the victor.
Finn Clougherty made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Jack Strom, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
Meanwhile, everything went Heritage's way against East Wake Academy on Friday as Heritage made off with a 10-2 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Huskies.
Blake Tillery looked comfortable as he struck out seven batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Ellis Droke was excellent, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Jack Merrell, who went 1-for-2 with one home run.
Heritage always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .515. The last time their OBP was this high was back in April of 2024.
Heritage now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Millbrook, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 7-1.
Tuesday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Millbrook has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .454. However, it's not like Heritage struggles in that department as they've averaged .435. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Millbrook couldn't quite finish off Heritage in their previous matchup back in March of 2024 and fell 7-5. Will Millbrook have more luck at home instead of on the road? Come back here after the game to get an analysis of the match and other baseball content.
