On Saturday, Trenton didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Bradford, but they still walked away with a 54-50 win.
Trenton's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Dax Becker, who scored nine points along with 11 rebounds. Zander Grant was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with two steals.
Meanwhile, Madison County fought the good fight in their overtime game against Munroe on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 68-60 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Bobcats. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Despite their defeat, Madison County saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Marcus Hawkins jr., who scored 17 points along with seven rebounds and five assists, was perhaps the best of all. Hawkins jr. is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Za?vion Bryant, who scored 13 points along with seven steals.
Madison County struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only four offensive rebounds. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Munroe pulled down 18 offensive rebounds.
Trenton pushed their record up to 10-6 with that win, which was their third straight on the road. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.7 points per game. As for Madison County, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-10 record this season.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Trenton have been smashing the glass this season, having only averaged 29.5 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Madison County struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 26.4 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
